Ron Washington is of the Rangers Baseball team was found to allegedly been using cocaine during most of last season. That plus the fact that the team knew about it and extended his contract is the allegation that is now being investigated by the baseball league.

On the other hand Bobby Gonzales was fired from Seaton Hall after four seasons and after a player he kicked off the basketball team was arrested. He has a very fiery personality and many were afraid that he might go too far with some things.

Michelle Bombshell Mcgee is accusing Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James of having an affair with her for 11 months. It is unsure if these allegations are just for publicity or if they are true.

Either way, you have to admit that there are lots of crazy things going on in sports, Hollywood and the world.

It came out of nowhere like Tiger Woods Mistresses.

Ron Washington allegedly admitted to using cocaine while playing last season and perhaps even at the Masters Golf Open Tour last year at the Augusta National Golf Club.

No other drugs have been found. But this was a big shock especially for the many younger adoring fans. This is another big hit to the sports world just as it started to heal from the wounds dealt by Tiger Woods and his mistresses with their extra affairs.

Ron Washington may be banned from baseball altogether. More reports have surfaced that he will not only get a suspension but an all out ban from the game. This would really hurt the many Ron Washington fans out there.

Alex Chilton dead at 59; led Big Star, Box Tops, inspired countless bands

Paul Westerberg and the Replacements spoke for countless artists and diehard fans when they wrote a song called "Alex Chilton" in 1987.
"Children by the millions sing for Alex Chilton when he comes 'round/They sing, 'I'm in love, what's that song?/ I'm in love with that song.' "
Chilton, who died Thursday in New Orleans of a heart attack at age 59, was a cult artist for most of his career, better knonw for the bands and artists he inspired, including R.E.M., Wilco, Jeff Buckley and the Replacements, than his own music. Yet his legacy endures, most especially the three studio albums he recorded with his group Big Star in Memphis during the '70s. Big Star was a group ahead of its time, its merger of British Invasion-style guitar melody and Southern soul a template for what would become known as "power pop." But it was virtually unheard in its time; the third Big Star album, "Sister Lovers," was released long after Chilton had walked away from the group utterly discouraged by its lack of success.

Yet Big Star's music only grew in stature as the decades passed, and songs such as "September Gurls" and "In the Street" were covered by numerous artists. The band's music was recently repackaged in a lavish box set, and was to be the subject of a major panel at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, followed by a concert in which original members Chilton and JOdy Stephens were scheduled to perform. From the start, Chilton cut a contrary figure, charting an artistic course that indulged deeply personal idiosyncrasies rather than courting universal appeal. This was apparent the moment the 16-year-old Chilton first stepped inside a Memphis recording studio in 1966 for a rehearsal with his first major band, the Box Tops.
He was wearing jeans with holes torn in the knees, a black T-shirt and a woolen scarf tossed Dylan-style around his neck. The studio regulars, in their dress shirts and penny loafers, were appalled. But when Chilton re-entered that same studio a few weeks later for his first recording session, he would emerge with a hit: His impossibly soulful reading of Wayne Thompson's "The Letter" became one of the biggest singles of 1967, the first of seven top 40 hits for the Box Tops, and the beginning of what would become one of the most brilliant, enigmatic and maddening careers in rock history.
Chilton would walk away from the Box Tops, disgusted by record-company machinations that would bedevil him the rest of his career. He joined the brilliant songwriter Chris Bell, bassist Andy Hummel and drummer Jody Stephens in Big Star, only to be disappointed again, this time by the public's indifference.
Glimpses of Chilton's fractured brilliance continued to poke through as he pursued a solo career; the haphazard, frazzled energy of the "Like Flies on Sherbert" album captured the tenor of the late '70s more effectively than dozens of better-known punk records, and Chilton also made his mark as a producer, working on the early records of the notorious psychobilly band the Cramps.
It wasn't until the mid-'80s that Chilton returned to making records, and his music took another turn; it was more relaxed and bluesy, about evenly split between covers and original songs, with a generally lighter feel than much of his crucial '70s work. He reunited with Stephens to record a new Big Star album in 2005, but otherwise confined himself to live performing.
In a 1995 interview with the Tribune, Chilton claimed that Big Star's music meant little to him. "In general, I think it's overrated," he said. "There are only a few songs that I can stand to play anymore."
That comment was typical of Chilton in its contrariness. His solo career was marked by inconsistency, and sporadic reunions with Big Star and the Box Tops.
"He's been popular, his music is pervasive, and yet he's virtually unknown," Memphis music journalist Robert Gordon once told the Tribune. "He's a magnificent obscurity."

Tea partiers, Republicans, and Republicans masquerading as tea partiers are rallying against health care reform this morning on Capitol Hill at an event they're billing as "Code Red."
This rally is being organized by the more establishment side of the tea party movement -- or co-opted side, depending on your point of view. The sponsors include the Tea Party Express, founded by Republican operatives in California, and FreedomWorks, the corporate-funded outfit run by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey. Accordingly, the list of speakers is dominated by elected Republicans, albeit some of the more whacked members of the GOP caucus: Reps. Michele Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn, Joe Wilson, and Phil Gingrey.

Though physically imposing, Peter Aurness always seemed more approachable than his more famous brother, TV's Gunsmoke, James Arness. Not even his stage name, Graves, could dispel the man's affability. His mellifluous voice—often utilized for narration in documentaries like the series Biography—probably helped very much in that regard. All indications were that he was as classy a gentleman in life as he was on the screen. Not many actors stay married to the same woman for close to 60 years as Graves did.

He was best known, of course, for the role of Jim Phelps, the leader of the Impossible Missions Force on Mission: Impossible. It's almost incredible that he didn't join the series until a near abortive first season with Steven Hill (Law & Order) as the lead. Six years and 143 episodes later, he became as synonymous with the show as his future Mission costar, Leonard Nimoy, did with Star Trek. The introduction to the taped mission briefings his character would receive clandestinely became one of television's most famous catchphrases, "Good morning, Mr. Phelps."

On film, he made at least three notable appearances. He played the handsome and helpful Price, a prisoner of war who secretly spies for his Nazi brethren in Billy Wilder's Stalag 17 (1953). In Charles Laughton's The Night of the Hunter (1955), he played the pivotal role of Ben Harper, a convict executed for murdering during the course of a robbery. His cellmate, played by a terrifying Robert Mitchum, suspects he can find the stolen money if he insinuates himself into the dead man's family. Both roles were an example of casting against the heroic type Graves would be most immediately qualified to play.

Having been typecast by his role of Phelps led him to try his luck at comedy, most memorably playing the role of the perverted pilot Captain Clarence Oveur in Airplane!, who gave us this famous exchange:

OLB Kamerion Wimbley Traded To Oakland Raiders

The Cleveland Browns are having another eventful offseason of trades as they have now moved another solid defend off the team. In a very surprising move, the Browns traded away top sack man in outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to the Oakland Raiders. It hasn’t been disclosed what the draft pick compensation will be in the trade so it’s hard to know what the Browns got from this deal.
Wimbley, the No. 13 overall pick in 2006, is only 26 years old and led the Browns with six and a half sacks last season. In his rookie year, he posted eleven sacks and is known for is ability to create disruption.
While this move was a questionable from the Browns’ end, it should be a very nice upgrade for the Raiders as they will now have a linebacker that can create more pressure off the edge. Wimbley will probably do a better job against the run as he will now have an extra man on the front line (Browns run a 3-4, Raiders run a 4-3) to help shred off offensive lineman.
For the Browns, I’m concerned about the amount of good players they are getting rid of once again. Last year they traded off key offensive weapons like tight end Kellen Winslow and receiver Braylon Edwards.
Now, they have traded off good veterans like defensive tackle Corey Williams (Lions) and now Wimbley. This organization is going to have to win with a great running game and shut down defense.
In a 3-4 style defense, you need to be strong at the defensive tackle position, and you need lots of quality linebackers to rotate. This team needs all the help it can get, and I’m not sure how trading away respectable players is going to make you a winner.
That said the Browns do have some quality depth at outside linebacker, and they should get production from those players.

Can't Knock The Hawks: Hawks 112 Pistons 99

Let's look at the positives. This could have been a whole lot worse. The Hawks led by an astounding 28 points at the half, and the Pistons did manage to cut it to nine in the 4th quarter before an 11-4 run turned the game into a blowout yet again.

Not only that, but Jason Maxiell registered his third consecutive double-double. Hopefully, this proves once and for all that the guy deserves serious minutes. You especially have to appreciate the 7-9 performance from the free throw line. If the Pistons are going to move back into contention in the next couple of years, they are going to have to find a way to get more 19 and 12s out of Maxiell.

Oh, and Will Bynum continued to make the case that maybe he should start at the point with 16 points and 7 assists. But if Stuckey's a sixth man, what does that make Ben Gordon.

Outside of that, it was sheer misery...

Let's start with the fact that the Hawks shot 63% from the field, including 50% from beyond the arc. I would hazard to guess that this ranks among the top 10-15 single game true shooting performances for any team this season.

It doesn't hurt that Josh Smith was able to deliver 11 dimes (!) with just one turnover. He also added five steals and 18 points on 8-14 shooting. Why wasn't this guy an all-star again?

Jonas Jerebko had a lousy night. Nine points an nine rebounds off of 12 shots in 32 minutes isn't going to get it done. And the free agents did nothing to assuage us of the worry that they might be money poorly spent.

But, really, you can't win games when you go down 28-7. During one stretch in the first quarter, the Pistons only managed four SHOTS in a scoreless 4:30. Detroit was simply overmatched against a team against which we were salivating for an Eastern Conference finals matchup just two years ago.

Elsewhere in the NBA...

As expected, Dallas' 13 game win streak came to an end in a 34 point home loss to the Knicks. Obviously, they got owned by Toney Douglas and Bill Walker, who combined to shoot 9-12 from behind the arc... Wait, what? I mean, the win streak was illusory, but was the ghost of Hank Gathers in the building or something?

And, really, Mavs fans should be a bit worried that Rodrigue Beaubois is carrying the load on offense. Beaubois sounds like the name of a gay graffiti artist.

In Memphis, JR Smith had another one of his "I'm just going to go ahead and hit everything I throw at the basket" nights. What is the record for the number of times a guy has hit six three pointers in a game? He's done it 21 times, and he's only 24. His team is 20-1 when he does so.

Also, if present standings hold, Denver's route to the finals goes through Phoenix and Dallas with home court advantage, with the Lakers playing Utah in round two. If they lose their division, they could be looking at San Antonio and then Utah without home court advantage. I don't think any team has more to play for over the next few weeks.

Also, for the record, the hoops-poops rhyme was not my idea.

GMA Shuffle Fallout: Kate Snow Jumps To NBC

ABC’s Good Morning America weekend anchor Kate Snow is leaving the network and joining NBC. The news was first reported by TVNewser.

It is the latest change at Good Morning America since Diane Sawyer left to become World News anchor.
Snow joins the network as a correspondent for Dateline and will “contribute to the newsmagazine and other NBC News properties,” according to the release.
This is a great day for NBC News,” said President Steve Capus in the release. “Kate is a tremendously talented and respected journalist. This signifies our commitment to growing ‘Dateline’ as it continues its ratings success in primetime, and our belief in investing in the future talent of NBC News.
Since Sawyer’s exit, George Stephanopoulos came in to take her role, and news anchor Chris Cuomo left to take a job at 20/20 and become Chief Law and Justice Correspondent. His role was filled by Juju Chang – but Snow certainly seemed in contention for that. TVNewser tweeted Snow “had out in ABC contract after not getting weekday GMA gig,” and was promptly scooped up by NBC.
She’s a high profile broadcast news name whose current role is different than the morning show job it sounds like she was looking for. But the NBC News role allows her to expand into other areas – mainly on cable, with MSNBC.

Kate Snow will be joining NBC News as a correspondent for “Dateline.” Beginning later this spring she will contribute to the newsmagazine and other NBC News properties. The announcement was made today by NBC News President Steve Capus.

She can cover breaking news, she can interview, she can write, and I’m happy she’ll be doing all that at ‘Dateline.’”
Previously, Snow was the anchor of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America” since the show launched in September 2004. Based at ABC News’ headquarters in New York, she also contributed to various ABC News broadcasts as a correspondent, frequently reporting for “Good Morning America,” “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline.”
A political junkie with a deep interest in world events, Snow covered a wide range of stories for ABC News. She was one of the first ABC News correspondents on the ground in Haiti after the devastating earthquake there and covered everything from search and rescue efforts to incredible stories of survival.
Over the years, Snow has reported on stories from the economy to immigration, medical advances to Oscar fashions, energy policy to Katrina evacuees. She has traveled to remote Africa, covered conflict in Lebanon and hiked the Badlands for “Good Morning America’s” “Seven Wonders” series. And Snow has conducted exclusive interviews with newsmakers from President Barack Obama to billionaire Richard Branson, from Senator Ted Kennedy to Beyonce and Bono.
Snow has covered several presidential elections in her career. In 2008, she covered the campaign of Hillary Clinton from start to finish. For some eighteen months, Snow did double duty as a weekend anchor and the lead correspondent on that campaign during the week. She also covered the Democratic convention in Denver and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s bid for the vice presidency. In the summer of 2008, Snow landed the first interview with former President Bill Clinton in the wake of his wife’s failed White House run. In 2004, she was the first network correspondent to travel with Sen. John Kerry during his campaign for the White House and she also covered President George W. Bush’s re-election campaign that year.
Snow joined ABC News in July 2003 as “Good Morning America’s” White House correspondent. In the summer of 2004 she moved to New York to launch the weekend broadcast.
Before joining ABC News, Snow was a correspondent with CNN. She covered the Sept. 11 attacks from the rooftop of a church near the U.S. Capitol, was the first television journalist on the scene of the anthrax attacks and spent weeks covering the 2000 recount in Florida. Prior to her Washington assignment, Snow was based in Atlanta with CNN Newsource. In that role, she covered the Kosovo conflict from Albania and Macedonia.
Snow began her news career as a reporter with KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, N.M., where she also anchored the station’s weekend morning show. She has also worked for National Public Radio and NBC Radio.
Snow was part of the ABC News coverage team to be recognized with the distinguished duPont Columbia University Award for her coverage of the death of Pope John Paul II in April 2005. She is also the recipient of a Cornell University Alumni Achievement Award.
Snow is a graduate of Cornell and holds a master’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University. She serves on the national board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Snow and her husband, Chris Bro, have two children.
